As a Stone Mountain business owner and resident I often frequent Stone Mountain Park. It’s just a short drive east of downtown Atlanta and offers a variety of family-friendly activities during the summer. There are two new shows at Crossroads, plenty of fun outdoor activities, and the Laser show Spectacular, an Atlanta tradition.
The new shows at Crossroads are part of Summer at the Rock. These special activities run through August 8 from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM. One new show is an interactive futuristic adventure called Campfire at the Edge of the Universe. The other show is Ritmo at the Rock, a fantastic musical journey starring the Ritmo Blu World Percussion Group.
There are plenty of other activities to do at Stone Mountain Park. Visitors can hike the trail to the top of the mountain for a fabulous view of the Atlanta skyline. Adventurous visitors can visit Sky Hike, where they can hike through the treetops on a family adventure course. There are three courses of varying difficulty, from beginner to challenging. The courses cross wooden suspension bridges, vertical net bridges, and a ropes course. Families may also play a round of miniature golf, visit the Antebellum Plantation & Farmyard, or watch Journey to the Center of the Earth, a 4D movie starring Brendan Fraser. In addition, there are 15 miles of hiking trails, fishing in the lake, picnicking, and golf at two 18-hole golf courses.
A one-day parking pass to Stone Mountain Park is $10 per vehicle and includes the Lasershow Spectacular. A one-day Adventure Pass, which includes unlimited admission to most park attractions, is $27 for adults and $21 for children 3-11 years of age. Individual attraction tickets may be purchased separately. If you’re looking for good value I recommend getting the Family Value Pass for $119. This includes four Adventure Passes and four meal tickets. This package reflects a 30% savings over individual tickets and is only available online (so make sure you purchase it before arriving at the park!).
